We are a U.S. based non-profit foundation raising funds to support the extraordinary work of Dr. Aldo Castañeda in his efforts to bring life saving cardiac care to the neediest children living in the developing world. His vision is to create a self-sustaining system of quality care in Guatemala and Central America for decades to come.

He successfully developed a pediatric cardiac surgical care unit at the UNICARP Hospital in Guatemala City.  His center has become the regional referral base and source of training for physicians and nurses throughout the region. UNICARP currently serves children from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, Belize, Haiti, and the Dominican Republic.

“Pediatric cardiac surgery demands courage, judgment, vision, compassion, and an all consuming commitment to the pursuit of excellence while pursuing unequivocal ethical standards. It is eminently a moral act, and, by living with human suffering, we learn to appreciate man’s moral nature and the joys of giving.”
